Description

Necklet of finely plaited wire, four-sided, with a circular boss, upon which is the head of Medusa in repoussd work, with a hook fastening on the side of the boss; as a counterpoise, is a small bust of Aphrodite. L. 13¾ in. Gold. Alexandria.

A GOLD NECKLACE with interlaced wire links; a small circular medallion with a head of Medusa attached to the end, and a small pendant, shaped as a bust of Isis, in the centre; late Greek or Roman period; Alexandria; (1178); fine and very rare.
